Story Time Bags

In keeping with the Aurora Public Library's mission to provide individuals with a variety of materials and programs to support and increase their desire to read and view for pleasure and to support the development of early literacy, the library has a collection of story time bags.

WHAT IS A STORY TIME BAG?

Each bag contains an assortment of items that encourage children and their caregivers to read, write, sing, play, and talk together.  All bags will contain books, and may also include a music CD of children's songs; a flannel board with figures to re-tell a story or nursery rhyme or to make up a new story, a white board and marker, finger or hand puppets, or a game or toy.

Currently-owned bags include:

CAN I FIND OUT WHAT IS INSIDE EACH OF THE BAGS?

For a full list of the contents of each bag, click here or search for the phrase story time bag in the Aurora Public Library online catalog.

HOW LONG CAN I BORROW THEM?

The Story Time bags have a four-week checkout period, with one 4-week renewal allowed as long as no other patrons are waiting for the bag.

HOW MANY BAGS CAN I BORROW?

There are no limits on the number of bags that may be checked out at a time (as many as you can keep track of!).

WHAT AGES ARE THE BAGS GEARED TOWARD?

The story-time bags are, in general, geared toward pre-school-age children.  All of the bags are intended for interactive use by children and their caregivers together, not for independent use by children.  Some bags contain small pieces; it is up to the discretion of the caregiver to decide which bags, and which elements, are safe and appropriate for the children in their care.
